What We Do

  1. We represent YOU. When Rockhurst students have suggestions, critiques, or ideas, a Student Senator can turn that thought into action by sponsoring legislation in support of your mission.
  2. We compose the Student Activity Fee Budgeting Committee (SAFBC). The SAFBC is the student-led committee that allocates your semesterly activity fee across a number of platforms that include student organizations, campus events, and facility maintenance.
  3. We promote diversity. The Student Senate has been at the forefront of the on-campus dialogue to promote a community inclusive of all types of peoples, and we continue to support legislation and programming to further that goal.
  4. We educate. There is much learning to be done at college outside of the classroom. The Student Senate promotes involvement in extracurricular activities, works to develop community relationships, and hosts an annual “Leadership Symposium Week.”
  5. We serve. On top of serving a Midnight Breakfast during finals week, the Senate aims to further the ideals of the Jesuit Core Values.
